MANILA, Philippines – Visitors from South Korea continued to lead all other tourists in the Philippines from January to October 2013, data from the Department of Tourism (DOT) showed.
South Korean visitors reached 990,486 in the first 10 months of 2013, a 25.61 percent share of total inbound traffic in the Philippines.
DOT said there was an 18.99 percent growth in South Korean visitors in the 10-month period in 2013, compared to the 832,437 arrivals in the same period in 2012.
Contributing the second and third biggest arrivals for the period are visitors from US (550,991) and China (365,905), respectively.
Completing the top 10 markets are Japan with 360,721 arrivals; Australia with 165,282 arrivals; Singapore with 142,970 arrivals; Taiwan with 120,587 arrivals; Hong Kong with 107,312 arrivals; Canada with 100,274 arrivals; and United Kingdom with 96,648 arrivals.
DOT said a total of 3,867,386 visitors were recorded from January to October 2013, a double-digit gain of 11.19 percent compared to 2012 arrivals of 3,478,285 visitors for the same months.
The 10-month arrival represents 70.32 percent of the government’s target of 5.5 million arrivals for 2013.
