What is the difference between Bisaya and Tagalog?
Bisaya and Tagalog are both languages spoken in the Philippines, but they have significant differences due to their geographic distributions and cultural influences. Tagalog is primarily spoken in the northern and central parts of the Philippines, including the capital city, Manila. It has been heavily influenced by Spanish, English, and Malay languages. The standardized form of Tagalog, known as Filipino, is the national language of the country. On the other hand, Bisaya, also known as Visayan or Cebuano, is widely spoken in the Visayas Region and most parts of Mindanao in the south. It is the second most spoken language in the country after Tagalog. Bisaya also has influences from Spanish and English, but to a slightly lesser degree compared to Tagalog. The two languages have different vocabulary and grammar rules. Even though many Filipinos are bilingual or multilingual, a Tagalog speaker might not understand Bisaya and vice versa without learning the other language.
